Headaches & Nausea

Our daughter Andrea, aged 14, had the following problems:
For about the past 3 or 4 years she had suffered with travel sickness.

For the past 3 to 4 years she regularly felt sick and had bad headaches - this caused her to miss, on average, about 4 days school attendance each month.

In April 1985 she started with a bad continuous headache and she could not get any relief from it. The headache was there all the time but it varied with intensity.  It seemed worse in the evening and during the night and it was worse when she was hearing a lot of noise.  She could not sleep at nights and complained a lot about the pain.  Some evenings and nights she was in tears.  This was the situation for 3 months and it placed a great strain on Andrea and the other 3 members of the family.

Our doctor prescribed various tablets, medicines and nasal sprays but they did not help.  He referred Andrea to our local Infirmary where she had several blood tests, head x-rays and chest x-rays.  Andrea was then referred to a hospital in Manchester, who eventually said in July 1985, that they could find nothing wrong with her and that we should take her back to see them in September or October if the headache had not gone.

We then took her to see Mr Adele, although as she had been seen by so many doctors and consultants we did not have a great deal of hope.

Mr Adele did some tests on Andrea and then about a week later prescribed some medicine and a strict cleansing diet for 10 days.  On the 7th day of these 10 days Andrea's headache went - that was the first time she had been free of a headache for over 3 months.  Mr Adele prescribed further medication and a slightly more relaxed, but controlled diet.

About 8 weeks have elapsed since that time and Andrea has had no further headaches.  We have been to the south coast for our holidays and did not need to use travel sickness tablets.  We have been strict about sticking to Mr Adele's prescribed diet but it has not been as difficult with Andrea as we expected because she seems to appreciate the fact that it is keeping her free from headaches and making her feel better and more alert.

We feel that if we had not had the help which Mr Adele gave it is likely that the situation would still be as outlined above and Andrea would still be off school.
