Biochemistry - the study of molecular basis of life, opens the gateway to the understanding of hte common molecular patternss and principles that underlie the diverse expressions of life.  Biochemistry is concerned mainly with molcular events in the cell.

The single cell is the functional unit of the body.  A great multitude of cells unite to form a tissue. Many tissues combine into an organ. Organs aggregate into a body system.
